STRA Compliance for Property Owners in Yamba & Angourie

You will no doubt be aware of new changes that have come into affect for Short Term Rental Accommodation (STRA) owners in NSW. Below is a summary of how the new legislation affects owners specifically in Yamba and Angourie.

All STRA properties must be registered by 1 November 2021. Visit the planning portal to register and then share your unique STRA Property ID with your booking engines. Your Agent can do this for you.

Non-hosted properties (where there is nobody living onsite) in the purple zones highlighted in maps below may only offer accommodation 180 nights of the year. The nights will be tracked using your STRA Property ID within booking engines and you need to track direct bookings as well. You may find more details on this fact sheet.

Your property needs to meet fire and emergency regulations. There are physical items that need to be addressed including signage and evacuation diagrams and information that must be provided to guests. There is a grace period on this until 1 March 2022. You may find more information in this fact sheet.

From 1 November, you must abide by the STRA Code of Conduct.

The details outlined above are intended for information purposes only and are not considered advice. Please do your own research on the NSW Planning Portal to understand your STRA owner obligations.
